Planet's
impact on humans varies remarkably based on its placement (sign, house
and nakshatra) and association with other planets through conjunction or
aspect. Same planet when well-disposed in a favorable sign and friendly
nakshatra could grant extraordinary results, as compared to when ill-disposed
in unfavorable sign or unfriendly nakshatra, where the result at the
best will be average.
Similarly
planet placed with or aspected by enemy could significantly taint its
benevolent tendency as compared to a friendly association. Also any
association with benefic planets is always desired whereas association
of malefic planets is a admonitory.
Friendship and Enmity of Planets -
Natural ( Naisargika) - For a planet, other planets that lords 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th and 12th houses from its mool-trikona or exaltation sign are its natural friends. Planets that lords of 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th sign from its moolatrikona sign are considered as natural enemies. If the planet is friend in one and enemy in other, it's considered neutral. Please refer table below.
Temporary (Tatkalik) - Plane considers other planet as a temporary friend if it's positioned in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th and 12th sign from the planet itself. Planet considers other planet as a temporary enemy if its positioned in same house, or 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th from itself.
Compound (Panchadha) - Combine natural and temporary relationship, we determine compound relationship between planets in a horoscope.
Friend + Friend = Great Friend
Friend + Neutral = Friend
Friend + Enemy = Neutral
Enemy + Neutral = Enemy
Enemy + Enemy = Great Enemy

Conjunction of planets -
- Mercury is always within 28 degrees from the Sun so Budhaditya Yoga is extremely common.
- Venus is always within 47 degrees from the Sun so the conjunction is again common.
- Closer the planets are to each other - stronger is the influence of planets on each other and more they interfere in each others business.
- Closer the planets are to each other - stronger is the influence of planets on each other and more they interfere in each others business.
- Mercury absorbs the quality of the planets it's positioned with, so malefic conjunction is unwelcomed.
- North and South node, Rahu and Ketu are always 180 degree apart, so can never be in conjunction.
- Nodes being shadow planets produce results as per its lordship and conjunction.
- Nodes being shadow planets produce results as per its lordship and conjunction.
-
Planets are considered combusted when within certain degree on the Sun;
Mercury since always in presence of Sun is not considered combusted,
unless within one degree from the Sun.
-
Two planets in conjunction and within one degree are at 'Planetary War'
and the planet with higher degree is considered the winner.
Aspect of planets -
- Luminaries, Mercury and Venus have only 7th house aspect; Mars has 4th, 7th and 8th house aspect; Jupiter has 5th, 7th and 9th house aspect and Saturn has 3rd, 7th and 10th house aspect.
-
Nodes being 'Shadow Planets' (Chaya Graha) have always been in debate
for their aspects. Some school of though considers 5th, 7th and 9th
house aspect for Rahu but ignores the aspect of Ketu, being a blind
planet. Other school considers 5th, 7th and 9th house aspect for both
planets, and yet another school totally ignores the aspect of both planets, since nodes
have no physical body.
- Few schools even consider 12th house aspect of nodes, the house it has just left.
-
Retrograde planets supposedly aspects from previous house as well. Like
Saturn in Lagna, when retrograde will aspect 3rd, 7th and 10th house
from Lagna, but being retrograde it will also aspect 2nd, 6th and 9th
house from 12th house. I personally find it silly and consider only
normal aspects from planets placement.
-
Aspect we are discussing here is full or 100% aspect, but planets also have 75%, 50%
and 25% aspect on different house based on different logic. These other
partial aspects are ignored by most astrologers.
-
Jupiter's aspect is always welcome and mostly benefic, unless Jupiter
is severely afflicted, in which case the aspect can be detrimental.
- Saturn's aspect is mostly undesirable as its a extreme slow planet, so the results though delivered can prove delayed.
- Aspect from benefic planets are always welcome but aspect from malefic can not be avoided.
Dispositor of planets -
- Planets dispositor has a say in analyzing overall impact of the planet. Debilitated planet but exalted dispositor will give better and promising results, as compared to even dispositor being afflicted.
- Planets influence their dispositors as well and the planets whose nakshatra they are positioned.
- Dispositor are specially considered while analyzing the effects of planets in its period or dasha scheme.
